Frequently Asked Questions

Security and your protection

How secure is the Shareview Dealing website?
Security and privacy are of the utmost importance to us. All personal and account details are held in the secure area of the site, which requires an account number to enter. The Shareview Dealing website incorporates 128-bit encryption technology to ensure the privacy of data. Verisign who have issued the certificate has verified our secure site status.

  • The secure area of our website supports the use of strong encryption (128 bit SSL). To take advantage of this level of encryption, you will need to use a browser that supports that level of encryption. Current versions of the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser and Netscape support this encryption. Previous versions may require software updates in order to support this level of security. When you see the "closed padlock" icon on your web browser, this indicates that this technology is operating.

  • Our web servers are protected behind "firewalls" and our systems are monitored to prevent any unauthorised access. As an extra measure of security your data is stored on separate computers from those used to serve web pages.

We will not send personal information to you by ordinary email as the security of ordinary email cannot be guaranteed. The site has its own brokerage application system into which security has been built from day one. Security is enhanced throughout the site by combining the use of strong encryption techniques and strong authentication methods.

How secure are my personal details?
Online businesses must have secure and robust systems that ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems and customer data. Through a combination of firewall technology and effective system monitoring, Shareview Dealing provides a secure platform on which online trading can take place.

What do you do with my details?
Equiniti collects and processes personal data to maintain the accuracy of Shareview Dealing records, to help us provide a high standard of service and to fulfil any legal or regulatory requirements. Please click here to see our Privacy Policy.

Does Shareview Dealing have a business continuity plan?
Yes, as with any business making heavy use of computer systems, we have a business continuity plan that is routinely reviewed and tested.

What is the Financial Services Compensation Scheme?
The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) is a "one-stop compensation shop" set up under the Financial Services & Markets Act 2000. The FSCS covers claims against firms where they are unable to pay claims against them. The scheme has the power to compensate consumers in the event of the failure of an FSMA authorised firm.

Equiniti Financial Services Limited is a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and circumstances of the claim. The scheme covers for example most Corporate Sponsored Nominees, Investment Savings Accounts and Share Dealing. Most types of investment are covered for 100% of the first £30,000 and 90% of the next £20,000, so the maximum compensation is £48,000. A leaflet with further details is available on request from the Scheme. Call their Helpline on 020 7892 7300, log on to their website at www.fscs.org.uk or write to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, 7th floor Lloyds Chambers, Portsoken Street, London E1 8BN.

Who regulates you?
We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), the single statutory regulator responsible for regulating investment business, deposit taking and insurance in the UK.

The FSA was established by the Financial Services Act 1986 (as amended) to oversee the regulatory system relating to investment business and supervising exchanges and clearing houses, the supervision of banks and the wholesale money market regime.
